Have you tried virtually every diet you can think of, but still looking for one that works? Why do most diets fail to deliver on their promises? So many “weight loss gurus” still preach the myth that drastically reducing your food intake will be a healthy way to weight loss. In the real world when we cut down on the food we eat we are more likely to remain the same or even gain weight. Your body is designed to interpret less food intake with starvation. By regularly cutting down what we eat we trigger our body’s starvation preservation mode.

To help maintain a healthy weight we need to eat foods that have more complex carbohydrates (such as fruits and veg, pulses etc) and most people who are overweight usually have diets that contain more fat. Being able to interpret what these studies tell us about which factors contribute to weight loss is crucial when creating a weight loss program. One of the best ways to lose weight is to observe a low carb diet where you are careful about how many carbohydrates you eat every day, but are less restrictive about the other foods. You should however make sure you don’t overeat, by carefully managiing your portion sizes, and ensuring you get a good balance of healthy nutritious foods which should also be low in saturated fats.

Lifestyle and eating habits contribute greatly to gaining weight and our weight increase didn’t happen over night but rather over a period of months or even years. As it took so long for the weight to creep up, getting back to your normal weight won’t happen in an instant. Individuals who do not understand the balance between watching what you eat, ensuring you get lots of water, physical exercises and making sure they get enough sleep are easy pickings to those pushing the current fad diet, diet pill or quick weight loss tips. You don’t need to look far to find the latest fad diet or weight loss program. Because most individuals today have been programmed to want everything now, it’s much easier to think (or even believe) that a magic does exist that can burn off fat virtually overnight, than to accept that we have the ability to change our lives and live healthier longer lives where being overweight is the thing of the past.

Diets will fail because they do not encourage a balance within your body. Diets are doomed to failure because they are designed around making the promoter or some company rich rather than making a weight loss plan or system that will sincerely help an individual to lose weight.

It is a known fact that people who are carrying excess weight are at increased risk of illnesses and other serious health problems because of obesity. Saturated fat consumption is one of the main contributors to unnecessary body fat.

For too many years people have been instructed that they need to cut down on food or rigorously count calories to be able to shed those excess pounds. In reality our bodies are very proficient when it has to manage weight if we give our bodies what is needed it needs to stay healthy - like making sure you get plenty of rest, drink plenty of water, good and nutritious foods, and daily physical activity.

Losing weight is not all about counting calories, you also need to avoid eating in excess. Healthy portions of healthy foods are one key to losing weight. Equally important to losing weight is to keep physically active. Our bodies respond well to physical exertion!
